Dr. Martin J. Zuidhof & Mark V. Fedorak
"Precision poultry feeding - transformational technology for research and commercial production"
Please join us for an enlightening seminar on the development, use and future of precision feeding for poultry. Dr. Zuidhof will first summarize his work on the development and validation of precision feeding in poultry followed by a technical overview on the design and operation of the precision feeding system by M. Fedorak. Dr. Bedecarrats will conclude the presentations with an overview of ongoing and future collaborations in the context of the University of Guelph Food from Thought initiative (bring precision feeding at Guelph!).
Dr. Martin J. Zuidhof
Associate Professor, Precision Feeding & Poultry Systems Modeling
University of Alberta
Martin Zuidhof has been studying Broiler Breeders for over 25 years. His team developed and patented a precision feeding system to feed each bird the right amount of feed at the right time. In addition to its commercial potential, the system doubles as one of the best poultry research tools in the world. Dr. Zuidhof is an academic leader of the Poultry Research Centre (PRC), a unique collaboration between the University, Government, and the poultry industry. The PRC is committed to excellence and relevance in research, and plays an important role training the next generation of leaders in the poultry industry.
Dr. Zuidhof‘s goal is to revolutionize the way the world feeds and studies broiler breeders.
Mark V. Fedorak

Mark Fedorak has a BSc in electrical engineering from the University of Alberta and is both a professional engineer and a project management professional. Through his consulting engineering company Xanantec Technologies Inc., Mark has worked on over 200 technology development projects over the last 20 years. Since 2010, he has partnered with Dr. Zuidhof on the design and implementation of a precision poultry feeding system, primarily designed for use with broiler breeders. He is currently in the manufacturing stage of a new generation of precision feeding stations capable of providing not only feed intake control and monitoring, but also providing multiple feed options.
