Rosie Whittle's PhD Defence

Commercial poultry diets are deficient in omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 FA) that are essential for embryonic brain development. Feeding n-3 FA to broiler and layer breeder chickens may directly benefit them and could increase the health, welfare, and productivity of their offspring. The aim of this thesis was to assess the effects of maternal feeding n-3 FA on the brain size and n-3 FA concentration, cognition, and fearfulness of layer and broiler offspring.

Getting Research into Practice

Livestock Research and Innovation invites faculty and students for a workshop on how to improve getting research into practice.  Speakers will emphasize how we are at a critical moment, how GRIP currently works and how to make it better. An industry panel will discuss their experience, sharing their first-hand knowledge on how they implement research. The afternoon session will feature a workshop to help build skills and explore possibilities. The Alda Communication Program will work to help everyone build a plan to take the next steps.
