Emma Borkowski, DVM; a Ph.D. student in the Department of Pathobiology at the Ontario Veterinary College, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, October 5th. The seminar will begin at 1:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building. The title of her presentation is: "Stress, cells, and immunoglobulins: identifying sheep with immunity to nematode parasites".

Emma was admitted into the Ontario Veterinary College after 3 years of undergraduate training in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph, and graduated from OVC in 2015. She immediately started a combined Ph.D. and residency in anatomic pathology, achieving board certification with the American College of Veterinary Pathologists this past summer. Her research focuses on understanding how sheep develop an immune response to gastrointestinal nematode parasites and evaluates measures to identify sheep with a superior immune response.
The Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock welcomes all interested University of Guelph staff, faculty, students, and industry or academic collaborators to attend our CGIL Seminars, which are held on  Friday afternoons throughout the Fall and Winter semesters. The meetings are always available remotely via Fuze, for those unable to attend in person, and presentation recordings may also be available after the seminar. Please let me know if you need further instruction on how to connect to Fuze or view available webinar recordings.

Have a great week!
