Dr. Ricardo Ventura, a Young Researcher at FAPESP in Brazil and a CGIL Collaborator, will present a CGIL Seminar on Friday, January 18th. The seminar will begin at 1:30 pm in room 141 of the Animal Science & Nutrition building.

Dr. Ricardo Ventura completed his Master’s and Ph.D. in Animal Breeding and Genetics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil. He then moved to the University of Guelph to work on the implementation of genomic selection in Canadian coloured dairy breeds as a post-doctoral researcher with Dr. Flavio Schenkel. He then accepted a position as a genomicist at AgSights (formerly BIO), which he held for 7 years, and he was also appointed an Adjunct Professor with CGIL in 2013. Dr. Ventura is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and associated with FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation - Brazil) as a Young Researcher.

The Centre for Genetic Improvement of Livestock welcomes all interested University of Guelph staff, faculty, students, and industry or academic collaborators to attend our CGIL Seminars, which are held on  Friday afternoons throughout the Fall and Winter semesters. The meetings are always available remotely via Fuze, for those unable to attend in person, and presentation recordings may also be available after the seminar. Please let me know if you need further instruction on how to connect to Fuze or view available webinar recordings.

Have a great week!
